Saline farm in Portoroz, SloveniaThe North West Coastal Forum (UK) together with Sefton Council and 10 European partners from the INTERREG IVC project SUSTAIN invites you to their final conference. The SUSTAIN international conference takes place in Southport, UK, on 18-19 September 2012. 

The conference will address coastal sustainability issues across Europe and celebrate achievements of organisations and individuals across North West England. It will focus on the outputs from the 'SUSTAIN - Assessing sustainability and strengthening operational policy' project.

SUSTAIN project partners at a site visit in Portoroz, SloveniaThe agenda of the event has a lot to offer. Phil Dyke, Coast and Marine Advisor for the National Trust and Chair of the Coastal and Marine Working Group, EUROPARC Atlantic Isles, will deliver the key note speech on 'Sustainability and Community at the Coast'. Throughout the day, the SUSTAIN partners will share their experience in sustainable coastal management together with examples of sustainable practice from across the hosting region. Moreover, you can witness the 2012 North West Awards for Coastal Excellence ceremony. The awards celebrate the achievements of organisations, community groups and individuals towards long term sustainability of the North West coast. The conference will close the first day with a formal dinner. The next day will offer the participants a guided site visit to the Sefton coast.
