INTERREG IVC at euregia 2012

Euregia 2012The INTERREG IVC programme will be present at euregia, a congress and trade fair for local and regional development in Europe, also in 2012. The event takes place in Leipzig, Germany, on 22-24 October, 2012. INTERREG IVC will present the projects’ results in a stand there and invite euregia participants to a workshop on innovation.

euregia  is a unique event that provides the opportunity to share ideas and know-how on local and regional development with exhibitors on the one hand and at expert forums of the congress on the other. Regional development enthusiasts will meet in Leipzig this fall already for the 8th time. The event, under the patronage of Johannes Hahn, the EU Commissioner for Regional Development, offers three thematic strands for sharing know-how and good practices in local and regional development:

  1. Climate and energy: Implementing the adaptation strategies
  2. Europe: Cross-border innovation and shaping the future
  3. new mobility: Concepts for future mobility

INTERREG IVC stand visited by euregia participantsThe INTERREG IVC programme will bring to euregia not only information about the projects and their most outstanding results, and present it in the exhibition area in its own stand. The programme will also gather three project representatives in a workshop to discuss the ‘Interregional Cooperation (Part of the C strand of the ETC (as well as of the former Interreg III Community Initiative), its aim is to promote exchange and transfer of knowledge and best ...) Boosting Innovation’ with the audience within the second thematic strand of euregia – Europe: Cross-border innovation and shaping the future.

The three experts will present the know-how and achievements of their projects, funded by INTERREG IVC and closely aligned with the programme’s thematic capitalisation cluster on ‘innovation systems (triple helix & open innovation)’. Catrin Gutowsky from the IPP project will share her insights on the internationalisation strategies for local and regional innovation intermediaries. Benjamin Kuscher from the recently approved InnoFun project will talk about the communication between financiers and innovators. And Barbara Staib from the Know-Man project will discuss the approaches to regional knowledge management. Detailed agenda as well as the exact date and time of the workshop are still to be confirmed.

Euregia exhibition hallSpecific achievements of the three projects will be set in the framework of the INTERREG IVC programme’s state of play. In this context, the Programme Deputy Director Erwin Siweris will take the opportunity to share his insights regarding the future of interregional cooperation.

Interest of the INTERREG IVC programme in euregia 2012 drew attention of the organisers. They conducted an interview with the staff of the INTERREG IVC Information Point East, in charge of organising the programme’s presence at the fair. Then, euregia featured an article about the programme in its April newsletter (available in German).
