INTERREG IVC provides funding for interregional cooperation, its aim is to promote exchange and transfer of knowledge across Europe. It is implemented under the European Community’s territorial cooperation objective and financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The overall objective of the INTERREG IVC Programme is to improve the effectiveness of regional policies and instruments. The areas of support are innovation and the knowledge economy, and the environment and risk prevention. Thus, the programme aims to contribute to the economic modernisation and competitiveness of Europe. So far 204 projects implemented by over 2300 project partners are being financed by the programme.

The Conseil Régional Nord – Pas-de-Calais


The Conseil Régional Nord – Pas-de-Calais is the Managing Authority (MA) of the INTERREG IVC programme. It bears the responsibility for managing and implementing the programme and acts as interface between the European Commission and the participating states and regions. It ensures compliance of the programme with the Community regulations and policies.

The Nord - Pas-de-Calais Region, thanks to several decades of cooperation between European regions, is an expert in territorial cooperation matters. It is the only region in Europe functioning as Managing Authority on behalf of its EU partners for three of the four European cooperation ‘INTERREG’ programmes that it is involved in. It manages the cross-border '2 Seas' programme, transnational 'North West Europe' programme and interregional INTERREG IVC programme. This unique task, never before undertaken by a regional authority in Europe, corresponds to a total of over €830 million of ERDF credits over 7 years.
