Good Practice Information

The overall objective of this project is the creation of an attractive environment for leisure addressed to all citizens of the Galati municipality. The project is included in the Integrated Urban Development Plan of Galati municipality. The project is eligible to be funded from Structural Funds within Regional Operational Programme 2007-2013, Priority Axis no.1 Supporting the sustainable development of cities- urban growth poles Intervention Field no.1.1 Integrated urban development plans, Sub-field "Urban development poles". The total amount of the project is about 2,4 mil€. The specific objectives are focused on: increasing the leisure quality, restoration of the green areas, rehabilitation of the park infrastructure, rehabilitation of the water, sewerage, irrigation and electric networks. Direct beneficiaries: all citizens from Galati city, elderly people, children, people involved in sports activities, people involved in cultural activities, students.
Galati City Hall has great experience in developing and implementing projects funded under: Phare Programme, Crossborder cooperation and Small Scale Infrastructure, Lifelong Learning Programme "Leonardo da Vinci", Regional Operational Programme - priority axis 3 "Improvement of social infrastructure", key are of intervention "Rehabilitation, modernization, development and equipping of pre–university, university education and continuous vocational training infrastructure".

Evidence of success

The integrated approach and the objective results ensure the success of the good practice: parking places: 1,383 square meters, art fountains: 2 pieces, benches: 200 buc, water networks: 6,600 meters, sewerage networks: 918 meters, waste bins: 100 pieces, drinking water fountains: 7 pieces, eco toilets: 4 pieces
