Good Practice Information

The territorial planning department of the Municipality of Loures implemented actions towards the involvement of local actors in the framework of the EUROSCAPES project. The project consisted in organizing meetings with the local population living close to landscapes (farmers, teachers, members of local cultural, recreational & sport associations, elected members).
Sociological interviews & questionnaires were produced & local children have been sensitized on their landscapes. Financial resources were municipal. A success factor was the proximity between the actions’ promoters & local actors (person to person contact). Continuing & deepening this type of work seems crucial for good landscape management. The sociological questionnaires are transferrable.

Evidence of success

The success is explained by the wide participation of local actors. Public meetings involved 430 participants (for 6 events in 6 different locations). 180 people answered the questionnaires. Meetings with local school teachers involved 25 teachers in 2 different venues. Around 20 children produced interviews to their relatives on the landscapes they live in.
