Consultation in the Luzard edge serving a collective project
Topic of the practice
Residents consultation, attractiveness of the territory, aesthetic and ecological value, listed wooded areas
Good Practice Information
The project answers to a recurring problem of coexistence between the edge of the Luzard wood & a surrounding residential area. Interactions between private gardens & the public woodland, as well as development works were needed. A consultation with the residents on the management of this edge was organised through workshops & field visits. Residents prepared individual models of an “ideal edge”.
All the requests were then grouped together & analysed. The outputs were shown to the residents on the ground & works could begin. The main stakeholders were: the elected representative for environment, the Green Spaces Department, a landscape planner, an ethno sociologist & residents. Planning & design costs: 15 000€ & development works: 85 000€, financed by the SAN Val Maubuée & Euroscapes.
Evidence of success
This innovative practice takes into account residents desires for establishing the management plan. There was a wide participation of residents: on 200 people, 50 answered & participated in workshops. It created a social link between neighbours & demonstrated the technical expertise in management of the SAN. There was a positive feedback during the works & no mail of discontent reached the service
