Network activities for creative industries in Bremen. Entrepreneurs, freelancers and SME’s are stimulated by the Klub Dialog to start a dialogue and to rise the awareness as a branch.

The aim of the Klub Dialog is to rise the visibility of the creative industries in Bremen, to connect people and ideas and to foster the cooperation of the branch. The networking process started with the Klub Analog 2009 which was a cluster management by the Economic Development Corp. (WFB Bremen) and is today an association with a managment board: Nicole Kahrs, Hanke Homburg, Dirk Beckmann, Adrian Rudershausen, Olver Behnecke, Peter Gough and Ankathrin Gut. Thematically arranged evenings, dinner talks and an open stage for all the exciting projects in and around Bremen show what Bremen has to offer. KLUB DIALOG’s aim is to build a home for the representatives of the creative industries and they are committed to increase the visibility of the various sectors in Bremen.
A large-scale project has been launched 2011: the “Expedition” sent interested people from Bremen across Europe to explore creative projects. The idea is to send creative professionals from Bremen on an expedition to the European neighbours as we know that many examples of great ideas and successful projects exist beyond Bremen’s borders. The Klub Dialog wanted to find out how these projects and ideas were implemented and wanted to exchange and to be inspired by the projects and the dedicated people behind them. They talked to actors and designers, architects and town planners as well as politicians and industrialists.
Evidence of success
The success of the Klub Dialog is in the high acceptance of the Organisation as a platform for the creative industries by the stakeholders in Bremen which arised because of the bottom up development. The practice could be tranferred if the development process (bottom up) would be similar. It could be very interesting to develop this experience on European scale. There is a need to develop more longitudinal evidence of the economic effectiveness of this kind of intervention to win funding support. Acceptance of the Klub Dialog in the creative industries in Bremen as a platform of the branch (high number of participants at events). Networking activities lead to political engangement of the branch as awhole (policy document 2012).
