Topic of the practice

Main topics: Development of bog environmental education instruments, creating a map with interesting bog information about the bogs in the different regions for teachers and bog guides, development of a concept for bog excursions, multiplier instruction: how to present the bog map and how to use it for the work in classrooms or at excursions, development of training sessions for bog guides

Good Practice Information

This Interreg Projekt „Bog Alliance in the Alps“ wants to connect the bog conservation interests in an area which reaches from bogs in Salzburg over Tyrolean wetlands to the Bavarian Alpine Foothills. Six bog regions with a big variety of different habitats are represented. The cooperation between different regions allows the use of synergies beyond the subject of bog restoration and conservation.
Good cooperation between partners as well as their personal commitment offer the possibility to achieve wide-ranging results for nature conservation in the region. Specific targets are: observation platforms/towers, playing fields in the forest, ((non-) permanent) exhibition, awareness for the protection of bogs by educating people (locals and tourist) e.g. through bog guides, maps, internet, etc.

Evidence of success

Cooperation and partner meetings run really good; common development of bog topics, a lot of communication tools have been implemented, development of sustainable ecotourism, particularly with regard to the protection of the bogs and sensitive habitats, construction of interesting ecotourism infrastructure for seniors, adults, teens and kids (each region has it´s own focal point of target groups)
