Good Practice Information

ProjectZero offers companies training opportunites and more than 100 companies are involved in the programmes. Motivating industrial enterprises to implement energy efficiency improvements and to invest in renewable energies can lower energy consumption, as such the project has a target of a 5% redcution by 2015. Many enterprises from the former mechatronic industry have chosen to increase production of energy components. An effective way to achieve a lower carbon area is to switch to a green district heating system. This helps reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and should be done together with improving the energy efficiency of buildings and reducing waste and energy consumption.

Evidence of success

From 2007 to 2010 carbon emissions were cut by 18%. The project has also encouraged green business, a switch to green district heating, the implementation of building efficiency and has involved citizens. It is important for both society, citizens and partners to set up milestones. Implementation of the process has created around 800 green jobs in the building sector, industry and research and education.
