Good Practice Information

Since the Chamber of Commerce of Venice believes that the International exhibitions, which the Biennale organises annualy, have extraordinary potential for local young generations and adults, it supports financially "La Biennale di Venezia" in its educational initiatives, developed through an innovative approach, relating arts, cerativity and new way of business. The instruments used for implementing the educational activities are: study tours, workshops leaded by experts, laboratory activities, specific itineraries whose aim is giving artistic and creative skills for creating business. Moreover, from 2010, the two institutions together featured special initiatives for professionals and firms, pivoting on art and architecture's capacity to open new scenarios for graphic designers, photographers, stylists, and trend-setters in general taking into account "the challenge of creativity" and "the frontiers of style".
International free-lancers, artists, architects, choreographers, composers and music makers along with Biennale's Direcorts of the Sectors composed the Educational Team: they have elaborated together training and educational projects in all disciplinary fields. These projects have been addresse to venetian artisans, entrepreneurs, craftsmen in order to emphasize proper venetian professions and activities. In 2010 more than 30.494 participants attended these educational events and activities among teenagers, families, adults, professionals and creative employees. Chamber of Commerce of Venice supported economically the educational activities managed by the Biennale with a financial contribution of 150.000 Eur.

Evidence of success

The importance of these experiences stands in: a) the involvement in art and creativity by a local range of local people throughout the Venetian area, getting in touch with children and their parents, teenagers, and students, encouraging their creative skills; b) the increase in the perception amongst local business that working with arts and creativity provides a real opportunity of enhancing entrepreneurship and crafts' products in the professional arena; c) the permanent creative network developed, where creative people, craftsmen and entrepreneurs (as well as representatives of creative industries) carry out together Research & Development, workshops and laboratories in order to support competitiveness into the territory of the Province of Venice
