Topic of the practice

Building stable international relationships Organisation of customised visits with k-stakeholders aiming to set up strong linkages and start up joint initiatives among Veneto and other areas.

Good Practice Information

Program owner: Veneto Innovazione
- Who else is involved?:
According to the topic, Veneto Innovazione involves the key-stakeholders fitting better with the focus of the visit.
- Rarely are the stakeholders SMEs (in this case we use the “clients database of the technology transfer Department").
More often they are cluster representatives who are in charge to involve in the exchange a relevant critical mass of companies.
Type of beneficiaries:
Companies, cluster representatives, research centres, public administrations
Program description:
The service starts with a preliminary analysis of the matching needs. Once the issue is well focused and goals and target groups defined, a detailed programme of activities have to be developed and shared with the counterpart. The proper people (stakeholders) have to be involved and prepared in advance so that the expectations can be in line with the goal of the mission. The stakeholders abroad or the incoming delegation are not selected by the owner of the practice. The partners, on the basis of the matched needs and the mission goal, are responsible for their own counterpart.
Moreover the stakeholders can focus on the right information and, sometimes, involve a “sub-network” of their relevant contacts. The mission can foresee face to face meetings, public presentations, in loco visits and social events. The practice can be applied to visits abroad as well as incoming delegations.

Evidence of success

In the last year three ongoing international missions have been organised and implemented (Israel, Canada and Australia), one MOU signed (with Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development of Victoria- Australia for Joint Fellowship Programme), one parnership agreement implemented with UNIDO (for Vietnam), 3 delegations welcomed (Senegal, Vietnam, Cina)
