The Park has launched a major action to enhancef farming through the brand "Manufacturer of environmental quality - Milan South Agricultural Park". It guarantees that the producer respects the shared goals of the Park for environmental and landscape protection. Among the other retail points, products are sold at the Earth Market, which uses sustainable agriculture as a defensive of the territory.
Both practices aresuccessful because they: were shared with stakeholders during planning; have strong impact on citizen-consumers; provide economic benefits to farmers; are supported politically
The brand had a project cost of € 40,000 and annual investment of 10,000 € for communication.
The earth market had cost at the creation stage (€40000). Now farms cover costs through a cost sharing scheme.
Evidence of success
The brand "Manufacturer of environmental quality" has allowed companies to develop their agricultural activities to the environment and to offer products and services to citizens by the mark certificates issued by the park. Earth Market has favored the knowledge of farms and their products to consumers, of which there are now c.5000. Both projects have increased farm income by 20-25%
