Good Practice Information

InnoCamp is an initiative where pupils are faced with a challenge from a local company – a challenge which they have 3 days to work on. The many teams (consisting of pupils from both primary school and secondary school) then work on the project for three days, during which they get feedback from teachers, entrepreneurs and other interested parties.
Once the deadline is reached, all the teams present their proposed solution to a panel of judges made up of representatives from all interested groups.
The presentation of the particular proposed solutions describes the progress of their project (project log), a thorough project description containing illustrations or prototypes of the project solution, an advertising campaign as well as a sales pitch containing a market analysis and price quotation.
Each project will be judged and there will be prizes to the winning entries in the categories of team work, sales and marketing, and product.
Before the InnoCamp kick-off, teachers and companies participate in a preparatory camp where they learn how to facilitate innovative processes during the camp. Moreover, the Teacher/business camp serves as a network to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among young people in the local environment.

Evidence of success

350 pupils participated in 2010. The evaluation shows overall a great enthusiasm with a considerable consensus that the pupils had learned something new and were inspired to work further with innovation. The involves and trains pupils, teachers, as well as entrepreneurs. It also combines two aged pupils, enhancing collaboration, responsibility and dynamic participation. It is competition based, which gives the young scholars the taste or risk, adventure, quality and collaboration.
