Topic of the practice

The I-POD & I-Creative Mobility Projects of Flanders DC (www.flandersdc.be) enhance entrepreneurship and network skills in the creative industries, by providing young creatives (designers, film makers, musicians, fashion designers…) a first international work experience through an internship program of 3-6 months in creative companies and organisations in the EU.

Good Practice Information

In the I-POD & I-Creative project recent graduates in the creative industries get the opportunity to do an internship in a creative company/organisation abroad of max. 6 months. During this internship they are able to put their competences into practice, experience an international work experience and learn or improve a foreign language.
I-Creative and I-Pod offer a professional and personal enrichment:
- Relevant international work experience
- A letter of reference from the company/organisation
- General and specific professional competences
- intercultural cooperation
- Improving language skills
- Improving chances on finding a job in their field of experience
Thanks to the EU-Leonardo Da Vinci program the participants receive a reimbursement during their internship. Flanders DC also offers them a coaching program and takes care of all the agreements with the hosting company/organisation.

Evidence of success

This is a good practice as it combines internationalisation with the support for creative careers of young graduates. The projects are now in their fifth edition. Every year Flanders DC is able to send out 20-25 young creatives. Every year app. 2 candidates immediately found a job after their internship or could continue to work in the host company/organisation.
