The Bellevue Hotel shows that hospitality excellence is possible in natural protected areas. The hotel is an independent family-run 4-star hotel, affiliated to the Relais & Chateaux trademark. The hotel has a 1-Michelin star restaurant.
The business was able to reach high levels of offered services and also enlarge its offer system, by adding a local products shop and a restaurant to its activities. It therefore succeeded in combining the sustainability of an independent hotel structure with a limited number of rooms with a volume of business sufficient to afford the necessary investments for the development on an international scale. In time the owners have enlarged the hotel activities’ volume. They have opened new tourist and trade facilities in the Gran Paradiso National Park.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Cogne, a little town surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of the Gran Paradiso National Park. The hotel guestrooms are furnished in traditional mountain style and hundreds of pieces of traditional furniture and pottery belonging to the family collection are displayed everywhere in the hotel. The family owns several restaurants in Cogne: the Gourmet dell'Hotel Bellevue, the Terrazza restaurant, the Bar à Fromage and the Brasserie du Bon Bec and the hotel restaurant- Le Petit restaurant. At Hotel Bellevue's "Valheureusa" wellness centre, the water is used in a number of both traditional and contemporary spa therapies.
When the hotel was founded (1925) there weren’t any facilitation opportunities or grants but neither were there any bureaucratic duties. Nowadays the business is eligible for the two following funding schemes: (1) Interest subsidy funding applications on long term invested capitals. Those are made especially for investments (the company has many projects); (2) Regional funding through a free grant for 30% of the invoices amount admitted to calculation, according to the de-minimis system.
Evidence of success
As a result of enlarging the offer of the Bellevue Hotel there are now 30.000 customers a year, 70 employees, a turnover of 3,000,000 Euros and more attention is being paid to environment and pollution.
