Good Practice Information

This 19 member interegional network from regional government, universities and SMEs was financed by the ECs ICT Policy Support Programme.It aimed to share experience, good practices and the knowledge to allow regions to plan an effective deployment of Digital Ecosystems at all levels (economic, social, technical and political) leading to improvement in the business environments for SME .
Beneficiaries included citizens, local/regional authorities, public bodies SMEs & employees. A collaboration tool, Sironta, was developed which specifically has a knowledge sharing tool (DEKEOL) including an Open Knowledge platform for content sharing & Help Desk that can be utilised to support all interested regions/ clusters in the development of future DEs.The total project cost was €0.49m.

Evidence of success

Success factors identified: Excellent participation by partners;Effective dissemination; Strength of partnership. Over 50 companies have shared information on SIRONTA & 14 companies have worked directly in a Knowledge/ICT cluster. Participants developed a strong awareness of the DE approach & the Identification of regional requirements of a DE adoption strategy through a bottom-up approach.
