Topic of the practice

Comprehensive regional overview of the main training needs for job profiles in logistics, based on job descriptions in terms of activities and competencies; source of information on jobs and relevant training to the local groups, educational and training institutes

Good Practice Information

A) Setting the methodology of the survey; Identification of the general trend in logistics in Emilia-Romagna. Collection and analysis of the available bibliography; Definition of guidelines for the survey; Focus groups with regional stakeholders.
B) Preliminary analysis. Identification of job roles within the logistics supply chain in Emilia-Romagna region; Identification of skills related to each job role; Sharing the structure of this analysis with stakeholders and with logistics experts; Collection of international information on jobs in logistics. Analysis of logistics supply chain and mapping of the actual logistics processes in Emilia-Romagna.
C) Survey in Emilia-Romagna. Sectors segmenting and definition of a representative panel of companies to be analysed; Desk check of instrument for the survey; On-filed check of job roles and of the related skills. Definition of survey scope and selection of representative companies to be interviewed in Emilia-Romagna; Interviews with companies.
The main outcome for Emilia-Romagna region was a definition of short and medium term evolving scenario in terms of priority training needs (current and emerging) in the logistics and goods transport sector, on the basis of an understanding of current existing training needs and the real training needs of transport/logistics and production companies in Emilia-Romagna.
In addition a model of transferable training course validated after the development of prototype course, which it is possible to draw the conditions for sustainable transfer.
The main outcome for the companies was a prototype of training course “Traffic planner” comprehensive of toolkit of didactic materials.
The budget was around 100.000,00 euro. Concerning the incentive for the implementation of innovative courses: 40.000,00 euro.

Evidence of success

Indicators: number of companies involved in the survey: 50; number of logistic profiles mapped within the survey: 16; number of critical logistic profiles underline on the basis of matching between real training needs of the involved companies and the offer of course in Emilia-Romagna region: 6; courses at the national and regional level identified and analysed with the aims to group them in different categories: 200; quality and the matching to the real training needs of the regional territory of pilot course proposed in the project.
Pilot course implemented: 1 (traffic planner).
People attending the course: 20.
