Good Practice Information

Promoter:The Regional Ministry in charge of Social Economy (9.800.000,00 € per year).Main objectives: Here we are dealing with a really innovative and complex tool playing a key role in entrepreneurship policy. It is not only a classic business incubator but it also carry out innovative actions (through external and internally supported projects) in all fields of activity (dissemination, training, technical assistance, guidance, legal issues, etc…) It is important to point out the co-operation with local governments since they tend to provide the “real state” investment (be it offices but also facilities for the start-ups) and the regional government the rest of the resources.Social Economy organisations play a fundamental role. For example the most innovative of this school, and the first one to be set up in a city (Seville) was created in close cooperation with FAECTA (the Andalusian Federation of Workers Cooperatives)
and the person running (until today) that school came from that organisation. Furthermore it is placed in the same building as the head offices of that Federation.Beneficiaries: Entrepreneurs. Special focus on women, young people and rural areas. There exist some special programs for immigrants, and areas in needs of social transformation (poor and deprived areas).

Evidence of success

Results: i.e. 6035 jobs created in 2004 (3120 for youth, 1544 for women). Some key elements are its network approach, since they mobilize resources coming from international (through projects), national, regional, provincial and local governments. They also are rooted in rural areas having a bottom-up approach. Also Social Economy organisations play a fundamental role. For example the most innovative of this school, and the first one to be set up in a city (Seville) was created in close cooperation with FAECTA (the Andalusian Federation of Workers Cooperatives) and the person running (until today) that school came from that organisation. Furthermore it is placed in the same building as the head offices of that Federation.
