Finditinbirmingham is an online portal that aims to boost business activity throughout the region through real business opportunities. Contracts and tenders that are advertised on the site come from both public and private sectors and appeal to tier of suppliers down to sole traders. Members are encouraged to post their opportunities in order to build up a local supply chain. The website helps the
council identify supply chain opportunities, increase their transparency and create jobs and training by supporting local enterprise. Support from the business community when launching such initiative is a must. The council benefits from opening up its supply needs to wider competition and getting best value for procurement spends. Local businesses benefit from tender, grant and training support.
Evidence of success
As a result of BCC being open and transparent with all of its tender opportunities (1600 so far worth 3,6bn pounds) and finditinbirmingham is providing workshops to support local SME’s and Third Sector organisations (TSOs) to become ’tender ready’, they are better able to quote for work. Approximately 18 890 individuals from 16 900 companies are registered on the site up to date.
