Topic of the practice

The A2B – Academia to Business - sessions aim to strengthening the relation between university R&D centres and companies in order to promoting R&D and technology collaborations.

Good Practice Information

The A2B session is a private meeting dedicated to the discussion of needs, ideas and projects related to the activities of an industry sector or of a particular company. The main objective is to promote R&D and technology collaborations by enabling the university researchers to know companies’ R&D and technological challenges, and allowing companies to know university’s R&D and
technological skills and university’s related projects. The main stakeholders are business associations or companies and R&D centres which develop work related with the activities of the business association or company. No particular financial resources are needed (human resources, meeting room, datashow, group transportation and coffee-break).

Evidence of success

To date, 19 forums have been organized. The participants’ network of contacts has been enlarged and 13 collaborations academia-industry (collaborative project, master and doctorate thesis and external expertise collaboration) resulted directly from the forums.
