Topic of the practice

The aim of the programme IGUALEM is to incorporate the principle of Equal opportunities for women and men in the companies as a key factor of innovation and quality by means of implementing different worktime organisation.

Good Practice Information

The program aims to advise and accompany companies in Andalucia for elaborating Equality Plans. For this purpose, the Institute establishes a protocol of action for the advising and guidance in the development of an Equality Plan in participating companies, providing training for the companies' board, and advising all the projects phases, to contribute to the dissemination of innovative ways for more profitable work planning.

> Implementation of useful tools for the incorporation of gender equality in the management of companies: diagnostic of gender equality; implementation of equality plans, establishing a plan of action and see examples of good practises.
> Support and follow up of the equality plans
> Organisation of specific training and information seminars in this field
> Implementation and dissemination of training materials about gender equality in the company
The actual methodology has been verified and implemented in a high number of companies. It is a versatile tool that may be adaptated to each company.

Evidence of success

Only for 2008, IGUALEM has presented its methodology in 47 businesses across the Andalusian geography, 20 of them (25% private sector, and 75% public administration) have signed a Collaboration Agreement on subscribing to the program and commit to implementing each of the stages necessary for the development of an Equality Plan.
The assessment demand of up to 100 companies since the beginning of the programme has been very diverse: general questions about the Law for Equality; demand for full assessment in the compliance of an equality plan; doubts about the equality diagnostic or the equality plan; informatin about the Equality Distinctive, standardize process of consultant companies to assess companies in equality plans.
