Good Practice Information

Habitech is an incubator for green-businesses and a national sustainability hub. Habitech is an Italian company of 300 entities, which works as service provider for partners and external clients. It is one of the most highly regarded Consortia in Europe for eco-innovation and environmental sustainability. Its fields of action are energy, mobility and sustainable building. The core business is to mainstream international green buildings quality standards and to provide guidance for realizing greener buildings. It has introduced in Italy the American certification for sustainable buildings LEED (applied to 120 public buildings in Italy) and it has also promoted a brand new wooden buildings certificate (ARCA). It represents a virtuous example of public-private partnership that proved to be an efficient model to prompt a fruitful cooperation among local stakeholders.

Evidence of success

In 5 years it has been able to bridge the gap between offer and demand of Innovation, by matching market needs with companies and research potentials. It is included in the list of RD&T Clusters certified by the MIUR (currently there are 171 members of the Cluster). It is a solid partner of the local PA - Trento Province and it gives a job to 8000 employees. The members aggregate turnover is 1B €
