Green Kindergarden “Szent Anna”
Topic of the practice
Energy efficiency in schools, education
Good Practice Information
The Green Kindergarden “Szent Anna” involves kids in activities concerned with RES and EE to help them learn about the efficient use of energy in order to avoid waste energy and to decrease energy cost. Events, competitions, and games are organised to allow children and their families to become more conscious energy users.
These educational activities foster energy savings with stable long term effects on energy consumption. The activities are largely self-financed, with some subsidy by the municipality and can easily be replicated in other communities in Europe.
Evidence of success
The activities involve local businesses and NGOs with positive (not quantified) effects on local jobs safeguard and creation. The main success factors are the easy replicability, the active involvement of community through children that direclty influence family’s behaviour with a noticeable effect in temrs of decreasing energy consumption and protecting the environment.
