Grenoble area is a clear example of Smart Specialization in southeastern France based on three technology sectors: ICT, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies. Over the last 10 years has developed singular projects with major investments (more than € 8 billions) on ICT under the brand “France Smart Valley”.The main sucess is based on A triple helix model based in a single vision equally supported
Private Companies,Public Policy Makers and Universities/Research Centres with a long standing tradition of cooperation.Rôhne-Alpes is the leading French region after Paris for foreign investors:2013 Forbes' ranking about the most inventive cities in the world is giving a 5th rank for Grenoble, the only French city of the ranking.

Evidence of success

Grenoble-Isère has 39.500 jobs in ITC (out of them 22.050 in electronics and miro-nanotechnology/ 5.000 in public research); 10.000 in Medical Technologies and Healthcare, including 7.600 in private companies and 2.100 in public research; and 12.000 jobs in New Energy Technologies and Clean Technologies (from hydroelectricity to smart grids, hydrogen energy or photovoltaic).
