Good Practice Information

Aalto University School of Small Business offers creative solutions covering the whole life cycle of entrepreneurship for the development of SMEs and the creation of new ventures. The main activities include academic continuing education, development, innovation activities as well as the business incubator with pre-incubator activities. Aalto-Up Center is a successful and fast developing business
accelerator and incubator. Aalto University’s SBC and Start-Up Center operate in various EU-funded projects, which are an essential part of the funding structure. The uniqueness of SBC and Aalto Start-up Centre lies in its experienced staff, close cooperation with School of Business education and research as well as access to wide co-operation networks.

Evidence of success

With staff of 80 professionals, SBC runs on average 200 training programs annually with more than 3500 participants. In addition Aalto Start Up Center business incubator has 80 dynamic startups enlisted, of which some 30 represent creative industries. During its operation Start up Center has generated up to 170 companies and more than 700 jobs.
