The programme supports innovative enterprises located on the Italian/French borders in the phase of prototyping and industrialisation of new products and services. It aims to develop a culture of partnership to improve the innovation capacity, productivity and international competitiveness, and to encourage the prototyping and testing of innovative products and services not yet existing on the
market in economic and socially strategic sectors.
Funding: €1.2M - EU Interreg
SMEs were invited to tender for R&D projects with SMEs receiving 80% to a max of €137,500 of the investment needed.
Eligibility: Innovative SMEs with R&D activities in smart energies (alternative energy sources, energy efficiency) & intelligent mobility (car, transport and logistics sectors, territorial monitoring).

Evidence of success

Although the programme is in its initial pilot phase the project is on track. Empirical evidence to date suggests that it is an innovative methodology of financing R & D services and satisfying public needs.
In 2012 nine applications have been submitted and five accepted, and €750K of funding granted to SMEs that invested €1M into R&D and prototyping.
