Topic of the practice

Association for implementing a local development strategy of the fishing area The association aims to develop and implement a vision of sustainable development of the fishing communities in the City of Swinoujscie, Swinoujscie Municipality, Wolin Municipality and Stepnica Municipality, leading to an improved quality of life in these communities.

Good Practice Information

Main activities:Strengthening the competitiveness and attractiveness of areas (promotion of the area covered by LSROR (Local Strategy for Development of Fisheries Areas)), Aid in the differentiation and re-orientation of economic activities of the fisheries sector (repair and adaptation of fishing vessels to continue in business; participation in training courses, studies, internships),
Adding value to fishing (e.g. compilation of the selling points of fresh fish), Create and develop associated economic activities (maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, ships and boats, retail trade), Protection of the environment and natural heritage (flood protection, conservation of biodiversity and protected species of fish or other aquatic organisms)

Evidence of success

Construction,expansion&modernization of harbour water; Building of open-air museums; Creating conditions for the development of active tourism&the recreation of residents; Building/marking walking paths & cycle routes; Creation of educational pathways and viewpoints; Marking access/driveways (beaches&swimming places); Construction of fishing trails; Creation of special fishing grounds for anglers
