Good Practice Information

The Martfű Local Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) was designed to address the increasing CO2 emissions in Martfü. The two most important climate protection objctives are: conservation of energy and utilisation of local renewable energy. The objectives of the plan were to increase the proportion of renewable energy sources in the energy supply; also, to improve quality of life, create a healthier city environment and increase the attraction to tourists .
Martfü adopted the SEAP in 2011 ,with the most important aims/proposals having relatively long-term (till 2020) targets. The municipality of Martfű committed to renewable energy and the SEP promotes RES for companies and households. Implementing the SEAP imapcts upon transport, construction, daily life and business projects.

Evidence of success

The measured energy consumption of the municipality before the actions(2010) was 366,111,111 kWh. In 2012 this reduced to 136,126,670 kWh.
The prorject has als reduced maintenance costs saving some 21.000.-EUR (6 million HUF) so far.
