Good Practice Information

Groningen Seaports wants to develop a heliport near Eemshaven for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of future offshore wind farms. The province of Groningen (LP) has asigned
area for research for this heliport. Other stakeholders are the municipality of Eemsmond, land owners and the environmental organizations. Groningen Seaports is responsible for buying the land and the development of the heliport. The exploitatuion will be done by a company that is specialized in this activity. Which company this will be is not yet known.

Evidence of success

During one of the study visits to Emden, we went to the heliport of Helicopter Travel Munich (HTM) in Emden. Here we receieved a lot of information which was of great use for the development of the heliport near Eemshaven. If the heliport will be developed, Siemens will do the operation and maintenance from here to the Gemini Wind farm, which will include 70 fte.
