Topic of the practice

Employment generation and social-labor opportunities, around tourist accommodation in rural contexts. Encouraging entrepreneurship emerged in the setting of the tourist accommodations and interconnecting with these, improving the quality of stay and the number of services available to customers.

Good Practice Information

Cave-Houses Tío Tobas are located in the County of Guadix in the north area of the province of Granada. This tourist accommodation has 19 houses with pool, restaurant, café, Activities Company, crafts and cuisine of the Guadix region Exhibition- Shop, and and branded products from the Natural Park of Andalusia (Registry of Tourism : A/GR/00127). Also a museum and interpretive


center -Workshop for recovery, enhancement and dissemination of troglodytism and Ethnographic Heritage in the area.
Besides the accommodation in cave houses, it offers different experiences through tour packages. All these services are provided working with other companies in the area, either by hiring local staff , creating a positive socio-economic dynamic in the environment.

Evidence of success

Evidence of success is the percentage of repeating customers (42%).
It is considered a good practice by the number of companies involved. Tio Tobas has combined the activity of tourist accommodation with a number of other activities developed by private companies in the area. Complementary services offered encourage job creation in the area of influence of the setting of this property.
