Topic of the practice

Chata Magoda is one of good examples of self-catering accommodation with an offer of additional services. This SME operates as a guesthouse and a holiday home in the rural area of the Bieszczady Mountains (south-eastern Poland).

Good Practice Information

This SME operates as a guesthouse and a holiday home in the rural area of the Bieszczady Mountains (south-eastern Poland). The additional services offered in Chata Magoda (guesthouse) and Chata Bojkowska (self-catering accommodation) can be divided into two types:
- those offered directly by the owners
- and those offered by other local entrepreneurs that collaborate with the owners.
There are in-house services available for tourists staying in the guesthouse and in the cottage. In order to provide internal services, the owners of the guesthouses , apart from working themselves, employ 1-2 seasonal workers.
Additional services can be offered by local entrepreneurs: horse-riding, nordic walking, wicker, ceramics and felting workshops and massages.

Evidence of success

Guesthouse is well recognised accomodation in Bieszczady Mountains and the owners estimate that aprox. 20% of their clients are visiting them again within next few years. There are few clients who spent many short breaks during the year each year.
The total number of served tourists from May 2006 – July 2012 is estimated at the level of 3.000. There are no statistics available per year.
