Good Practice Information

In Concerto is a set of 22 social cooperatives: 5 dealing with social welfare services and 16 with work placement. It runs according to several core principles:
- encourage the creation of specialized cooperatives in production and services to integrate people with disabilities into the labour market, give priority to processes of shared solidarity, prefer the challenge of the private market.
The variety of activities carried out by the consortium and their socio-business optic are all transferable in other context like example of the enhancement of social enterprises. Its structure, highly integrated and flexible, is clearly favored in the acquisition of financial resources necessary for the development, as well as able to gain obvious economies of scale with transversal services.

Evidence of success

The main objective of In Concerto is precisely to provide work integration for disadvantage people "attacking" the open market. Despite the economic crisis, in 2011 its social cooperatives have gained 8% more than in the previous budget year. An example of the solidity of its strategy is the fact that Nestlé has commissioned the Consortium to produce components for automatic coffee machines.
