Topic of the practice

Providing support to young fashion brands

Good Practice Information

The project supports the installation of about 30 designers in renovated workshops/boutiques in neighbourhoods of both cities, with
dedicated commercial places and services.
The objectives are:
Identifying and shepherding fashion designers wanting to develop their own label.
Breathing new life into two neighbourhoods in Lille and Roubaix.

Catalyse national and international recognition of Lille Metropolitan Area as a territory with fresh creative talent.

Designers may come from anywhere in the world. They must have some season collections released and be willing to launch their own
label in a professional and commercially viable manner.

Evidence of success

MdM shops have been opened in Lille in January 2007 and in Roubaix in December 2008.
The main measurable results are direct and indirect jobs created in 2011:
Maisons de Mode stuff: 12 people
Selected designers: 20
