Evaluation of the applications for admission into Business incubator of South Bohemian Science and Technology Park in Ceske Budejovice
Topic of the practice
The evaluation of applicants is a necessary step to become tenants of the faciliy on one side and to utilise the incubator and technology park in the most effective way. The evaluation process thus directly addresses system and market failure in bringing R&D result to the market in the South-Bohemian region. The way how the applicants are evaluated directly influences success of this policy.
Good Practice Information
Administering institution is South Bohemian Agency for Support to Innovative Enterprising. The agency has a set of rules creating together with opinions of external evaluators framework for admitting applicant for a subsidised rent. The business park in Ceske Budejovice is designed to be fully selfsustaining unit, and possible loss is covered by the South Bohemian region.
The system of evaluation of the applications for admission was developed for specific regional conditions, but it was inspired by other facilities supporting start-ups in the Czech Republic. Similarly, transferability of this measure is restricted to general settings of the selection process (data from applicants, types of evaluation, indicators used...) due to specific demands in each region.
Evidence of success
There has not been made any evaluation of the measure yet, but the business park in Ceske Budejovice is designed to be fully selfsustaining unit, and possible loss is covered by the South Bohemian region. The building is managed by the University of South Bohemia.Thus, cooperation of various stakeholders when establishing the business incubator can be considered as the evidence of success.
