Good Practice Information

The MOPA organization was created in 2003 and is mainly funded by Aquitaine Regional Council. It aims to support regional stakeholders in the tourism sector. The objective of MOPA is to share and coordinate a strategy on e-tourism on a territory by training the employees, so that they can assist local professionals to make a digital transition and become more competitive
Thanks to MOPA a new profession was created: " territory’s digital mediators ". Today 750 professionals have been trained in France. In terms of financial resources, the cost of 1 territory’s digital mediator training is 1,300 €, 250 € only being paid by the trainee’s structure since the rest is supported by funding training institutions.

Evidence of success

This practice reinforces the link between digital mediators and local tourism professionals allowing the tourist office to contribute to develop the territory and to provide its members with additional communication services addressing the issue of e-tourism. Assessment is continuous and is based on evaluations from training organizations, managers of structures, trainees and regional referents.
