INTERREG IVC brought inspiration to Czech regions
The third in a row 'Inspiration for future' workshop organised by INTERREG IVC for representatives of public authorities and bodies governed by public law took place on 11 April 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic. The participants discussed the benefits for their regions and interregional cooperation in the new funding period 2014-2020.

INTERREG IVC good practices discussed and displayed in Bulgaria
On 28 March 2013, INTERREG IVC brought an exhibition of good practices and a national dissemination workshop on 'Inspiration for future' to Sofia, Bulgaria, for Bulgarian representatives of public bodies to share their experience with INTERREG IVC projects and give the programme some feedback on their future expectations on interregional cooperation. It was the second in a row of national workshops on presence and future of interregional cooperation.
Priority 2 : Environment and risk prevention
The purpose of this programme priority is to enable regional and local authorities and other stakeholders at the regional level to improve their policies, methods and capacities in the area of environment and risk prevention.
The 84 projects approved under this priority all have the general aim to maintain and improve the quality of environment and to increase the attractiveness of European regions. They often aim at strengthening environmental protection and synergies between the environmental context and the economy.
The following overview provides some examples of topics addressed by interregional cooperation (Part of the C strand of the ETC (as well as of the former Interreg III Community Initiative), its aim is to promote exchange and transfer of knowledge and best ...) projects under the priority ‘Environment and risk prevention’. Under each sub-theme description you will also find some examples of interesting project publications.
Sub-themes
Natural and technological risks, climate change
- improving the monitoring of environmental risks
- supporting awareness-raising and emergency planning for populations located in very sensitive areas, such as heavily built-up basins, seismic areas, flooding prone areas, etc.
- facing air pollution, managing and communicating on associated risks
- development of strategies for minimising relevant natural and technological risks
- developing the formulation of tools, action plans and awareness-raising and capacity-building for responding at the different levels on all relevant natural and technological risks
- developing appropriate coordinated spatial planning measures in geographically sensitive areas
- developing measures to face and raise awareness on climate change and promotion of adaptation and mitigation policies
- developing strategies for preventing and reducing floods

- developing of ecosystems based approach to the sustainable management of the seas, the management of coastal zones and the reaping of the benefits of the sea.
